The presentation of the "Farmer" Production-Consumption Women's Cooperative, established within the framework of the "Work with Women Agri-Entrepreneurs" project, has been held in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Gulbaniz Gambarova, the project coordinator, stated that the cooperative was created to expand the economic opportunities of rural women, consolidate their production potential, and strengthen market linkages.
Currently, the cooperative unites 32 women agri-entrepreneurs representing the Sadarak, Julfa, Ordubad, Babek, and Sharur districts. The members operate in fields such as livestock farming, grain farming, horticulture, fruit drying, poultry farming, and the production of bread and pastry products.
Over 100 varieties of products manufactured by the cooperative members are currently put on sale in local markets, as well as in the Iğdır province of Türkiye. However, as the cooperative does not yet have a unified commercial brand, the products are presented to consumers under the labels of other companies. The main targets of the cooperative are to establish a unified product brand, improve packaging and marketing, expand sales markets, develop logistics and digital sales opportunities, as well as enhance export potential.
Speaking at the event, Israfil Hasanli, Head of the Cooperative Development Sector under the Department for Work with Farmers, Associations, and Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, praised the cooperative's lines of activity. He provided information on support mechanisms designed for the development of cooperatives, promotion of entrepreneurship in rural areas, and sustainable development in the agricultural sector within the "State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing Sectors in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030."
During the presentation, Mehpara Huseynova, Honored Agricultural Worker of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, was elected as the Chair of the "Farmer" Production-Consumption Women's Cooperative.
It was noted that the first women's agricultural cooperative established in Nakhchivan will contribute to increasing the economic activity of rural women, boosting family farm incomes, and supporting the development of the agricultural sector.
