Name of project:   Private Sector Development and Technical Vocational Education and Training in South Caucasus (PSD TVET SC)

Project description

The Private Sector Development and Technical Vocational Education and Training (PSD TVET) programme is commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).  It has been developed jointly with the public partners and private sector in the South Caucasus Countries, aims at promoting the private sector development with a high attention to employment impacts and a close integration of vocational education and training.

The project follows an integrated approach to employment promotion. It focuses on labor market supply and demand in a bid to improve the conditions for job creation and employment. Involving the private sector in vocational education and training and boosting the competitiveness of sectors with a high employment potential are core components. The project operates in the following thematic areas: promoting the private sector, vocational education and training and regional and international exchange of experience.

Short description of ARWA’s role.

ARWA delivered services to PSDTVET program which included selection of the vegetable farming businesses in Goranboy and Barda districts and their mobilization, involvement into the program and assessment of their training needs.

Mapping of farmers - Mapping and mobilizing farmers in the selected districts with focus on Boluslu village in Goranboy and Boyuk Goyushlu and Gara Yusifli villages in Barda. Farmers must be informed about the program objectives. As a result, up to 27 vegetable farming businesses, approximately up to 9 businesses per village should be selected for the  program.

Assessment of training needs  - Upon completion of mapping and agreeing the list of selected farmers with the program, contractor must carry out assessment of the selected farmers’ training needs. ARWA as a contractor will identify survey framework, design and prepare a questionnaire, execute the full survey and interpret the results.
