Participants of COP-29 visited the farm of a female farmer in Soylan village, Tartar region. Farmer Manya Qasimova shared the development journey of her farm since its inception, the challenges she has faced, her plans to expand, the contributions of women farmers in the village to social issues, their fight against stereotypes, and more.
After the visitors toured the farm, a roundtable discussion was held, focusing on COP-29, which is drawing global attention. Manya’s observations about the damage climate change has caused to agriculture, the worsening water scarcity year by year, global warming, and their destructive impact on the world were highly compelling.
The female farmer sent an important message to COP-29:
“Tell the world’s climate leaders that there is no other calamity as destructive to the soil, air, and water as war! During the Karabakh war, the rockets fired by Armenians and the rain of gunpowder burned the soil of Tartar so badly that we cannot grow anything. If wars stop, the climate will recover, and the world will become a paradise!”
Guests Mateusz Ciasnoça (Poland) and Maria Virginia (Argentina) left their impressions in the Guestbook of the ZƏFƏR Women’s Group.
The meeting was also attended by Gulbeniz Ganbarova, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Rural Women’s Association.
